Midwest Division
IHC has grown from a modest beginning as a small shoulder paving and flatwork subcontractor in Michigan in 1947 into one of the nation's foremost leaders in the concrete paving industry. The IHC Midwest Division comprises the most experienced group of managers, supervisors and key hourly employees of any IHC division. Southwest Division
The IHC Southwest Division has experienced and well-trained operatives with state-of-the-art specialty equipment designed for the task. This division is dedicated to providing quality workmanship, on-time performance and innovation on the most complex and difficult airfield and highway projects. The construction of over 3 million square yards of airfield and landside concrete pavement and installation of over 4 million square yards of high quality heavy-duty airfield pavement at the new Denver International Airport over the past five years fine-tuned our successful management structure. This team has accomplished the following:

  • The job comprising Runway 3-21, Taxiway F & Taxiways C, D, E & G at Albuquerque International Sunport was selected the winner in the Commercial & Military Airports category of the 1996 American Concrete Pavement Association's (ACPA) National Awards for Excellence.
  • The ACPA awarded IHC the first place award for the best concrete pavement project built at a major airport in 1993 for the construction of Concourse A apron paving — a 575,000 square yard, 17" thick plain dowel jointed pavement.
  • Successfully placed dowels in transverse and longitudinal joints mechanically in 17" thick slipform concrete at the Albuquerque International Airport.
  • Worked with manufacturer to modify bridge deck finishing machine for low slump, thick airfield pavement that greatly enhanced the quality and productivity of form work paving.
  • Dedication to partnering on all projects and was the first to partner at DIA. Initiated partnering at Albuquerque International Sunport.
  • Contractor Quality Control Program recognized as a model in the industry.
  • Successful implementation of Primavera Scheduling and Resource Loading.
